East Coast Training Academy sponsors first annual "Pride and Professionalism" Award at the 13th annual Boston EMS Awards Banquet held on May 19, 2005

Being a good EMS instructor or teacher isn't just the ability to present subject matter, it's also based upon experience and attitude. East Coast Training Academy founder and President James Scopa worked within the Boston EMS system for nearly two decades before moving to a career in law enforcement, and Lead BLS Instructor Ed Burke has worked for Boston EMS for almost one decade. In that time, both have realized that without the experience of co-workers and the unique positive attitude of a select few as a driving influence, the East Coast Training Academy would not be able to provide the superior quality course material it has become known for. In an effort to recognize these contributions, the East Coast Training Academy has established and sponsors the Boston EMS Pride and Professionalism Award which recognizes a member of Boston EMS who enhances the public image and reputation of the department beyond the execution of his daily duties. Through his consistent performance as a respected department member, patient care advocate, peer mentor, union/department organizer, community volunteer and dedicated professional, this award recipient successfully and consistently integrates a variety of talents to positively influence the future of Boston EMS and the EMS profession at large. In addition to sponsoring this award, the East Coast Training Academy also gives $500 to the recipient.
